Glass Stone Heart

I started doing some crafts when I found Craft Klatch Roku Channel. I really enjoyed the glass stone with finger nail polish crafting. I want to share an idea I came up with. How to make a perfect painted heart on the stone. First of all, if you are new to this craft, you can get a 50 count bag of glass stones at Hobby Lobby for $2.99. You can also get some at the Dollar Tree, but a portion will be imperfect with cracks, but the whole bag is $1, and you get around 35. There is all kinds of ideas you can come up with. Using finger nail polish glitter and stencils, even aluminum foil. I learned from Craft Klatch, I downloaded their Roku channel and watched from my t.v.

I made a homemade stencil for the one in pic below. I took some laminating paper and cut out a small square large enough to trace a stone on. I traced around the stone. Don't cut it out yet. So it would be easy to peel, I peeled the paper up a little away from the sticky side on one cut edge of the square. Then to keep them from sticking back together, I placed a small crumbled up piece of foil or kind of paper will do, in between the papers and then pressed them back together, making it easy to peel back again. Now cut the circle out but not all the way around; curve off the circle and cut down to the peeled up part where the foil is then back up and finish cutting the circle out; basically making a tab so it will be easy to peel the stencil off the sticky side. Now fold the circle in half and cut a half heart out aiming to center it in the circle. You might want to use some plain paper and practice cutting out a heart to look like you like it. Open the circle up and you should have a cut out heart in the middle of the stencil. Before you use the stencil, have your stone ready. I cleaned the stone with alcohol and let dry. Then I first brushed it with some clear silver glitter polish and let it dry. Then I peeled the stencil off by peeling it off where the foil is on the tab. Placed the stencil centered onto the stone. Press down well to stick to stone. The tab will be hanging over for easy peaI off later. I took red acrylic paint and painted the heart area real well. When the paint is dry, (I am letting it dry overnight, so a clean cut of the heart is more likely to happen when peeling, lift the stencil off. Finish decorating it as you wish. The one in the pic I brushed some clear polish on and sprinkled some additional fine silver glitter on after I peeled the stencil off. I let it dry then took some white polish over that. My white polish just was not covering it well. So when it was dry I brushed it with some white acrylic paint. After that was dry I brushed more white finger nail polish on it let it dry and then put one more coat of the white polish on. The pic looks like there is black specs, but it is silver. The back looked more smooth and covered. I hope this idea blesses others! God Bless!
